Hospitality Rider
I've seen many a rider in my time here at the Tolbooth, nothing quite like the famous "Bowl of smarties with all the brown ones removed", but we've had a few doozys over the years, but this one is unique... Whilst not demanding at all compared to most riders, it is a wonder to read, so good I felt I had to share it... Enjoy! ( Hospitality Rider ) | | Sunday, April 12th, 2009 | | 1:13 am |
Quality Food
My dog mooches for everything... I've never seen anyone so optimistic... after dinner she'll go through to the kitchen, just in case some part of dinner has fallen into her dish... Tonight... was a bit short of time, so had a KFC... Doggie smelt it when I got home, and proceeded to head off to bed without mooching at all... I fear this says something about fast food in general... :) | | Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 | | 2:03 pm |

Why do I always deserve spankings? *mutters* Dear Santa...
Dear Santa,
This year I've been busy!
In November I had a shoot-out with rival gang lords on the 5 near LA (-76 points). Last Wednesday I turned clawbeast in for spitting (3 points). Last Thursday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, magestic_kitten (-5000 points). In March I pulled over and changed black_dragon88's flat tire (15 points). In June I gave change to a homeless guy (19 points).
Overall, I've been naughty (-5039 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Anyone know any re-enactment peeps?
My mate works for the TV show 'Rory and Paddy's Great British Adventure' and they're looking to do an episode on Battle Re-enactment for the next series. Does anyone have any contacts I can point her at? They need an event that runs between January and April too, as that's when the filming needs to be done. | | Thursday, August 14th, 2008 | | 7:04 pm |
Blackberry
Got myself a Blackberry and it looks pretty good. Assuming this works, can now post and read livejournal whilst bored at work... Isn't technology wonderful... Of course... Being a boy, I immediately chucked the manual into a drawer, so there is rather a lot that I have no clue how to do, but am getting there slowly... | | Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 | | 3:24 pm |
Yup...am still geeky
Spotted an advert for cheap fuel today... Whilst perusing this, noticed they specialise in 'Elf Lubricant'... I giggled like the geek I am... *hangs head in mock shame* | | Friday, December 14th, 2007 | | 11:08 am |

Bunting...
Was an interesting weekend at work... Had a really stroppy conference customer come in and have a rant about her event which is on tomorrow. Apparantly the communication has been appaling, which to be fair, is true... She's listened to the bits she's interested in, and completely ignored everything else we said... Tomorrow could be a fun day... The rest of Friday night was a gig by the Brothers Zamiskovci, a Slovakian folk band... A very bizarre gig, topped in my humble opinion, by their finale of the first half song, a rousing Slovakian version of "You canny throw your granny off a bus"... I kid you not... Thankfully, Saturday nights gig was surprisingly good, so wasn't all bad. Our Arts Officer foolishly told me last week that she keeps giggling everytime we say the word 'bunting'. Normally, bunting doesn't crop up much in my everyday conversation, but we've got loads of it in the building ready for St Andrews day. As a wee treat, I've decorated her office this morning with lovely Saltire bunting *grins* Will see shortly how she takes it... Hugs for all, and bum squeezes where appropriate :) | | Tuesday, March 27th, 2007 | | 11:01 am |
The end of the financial year...
One of the joys of working for a local authority (using the term in its loosest possible sense of course), is this time of year. Everyone is trying to balance budgets and spend any excess money to ensure that they not only don't lose it, but don't have it removed from their budget for next year. Completely stupid way of working IMHO, and a complete waste of tax payers money (ie mine...), but what can you do? So we have the bosses running round ordering us to buy 'stuff'... Now some of it will be nice to have, some of it is even essential, but unless it will be in the building by Friday, then we can't have it. Not terribly handy when most of our suppliers deal in 14/28 day delivery periods... Ho Hum. Of course, the big boss knew that we'd have excess money back in November, and we drew up a list of wanted goods back then, but have had to shelve many things because he's waited till the last week to okay any spending...pillock. We're now at the "Just buy things... don't care what... but we need this money spent" stage... I'm currently looking into buying a work pet (a goat, a snake or a golden eagle are the preferred choices at the moment) and a man sized shredder... Who'd have thought spending money could be so rubbish :( Current Mood: frustrated | | Thursday, January 18th, 2007 | | 1:45 pm |
Snow and Travel don't mix...
After leaving home at 10 this morning for my 45 minute drive to work, finally got here 3 and a half hours later... Still, beats being at work *grins* And now... half my working day is gone before I start *cheers* I love snow! | | Friday, December 15th, 2006 | | 11:44 am |

Wheelchairs...
Thankfully, my work has no pantomimes on at this time of year, but for the next 3 days and nights, we do have a Xmas-ish kids show in. Tech-wise, was all arranged and planned well in advance, and bar one slight mishap (cleverly arranged by their management, our management, and a suddenly leaking roof), everything is all set for the first show, and the cast and stage manager (Mmm...blond totty) have gone for dinner. But... Have just found out that 'da boss' has decided to give over tomorrows matinee to a load of community groups. 'Good call' you may say, and indeed, tis a nice gesture. However... he's given away 100 tickets to 8 different elderly groups (all for the same show), without thinking that elderly groups are somewhat likely to have patrons in wheelchairs. While normally this is not a problem, having a fully DDR compliant building, there is a physical limit to how many wheelchairs we can actually safely have in the auditorium, and that is 7. After some frantic phonecalls upon having this pointed out to him, we've found that no one can be exactly sure how many people they are bringing, but we're currently sitting at 7, possibly 8 wheelchairs. While he has said he will sort it one way or another tomorrow, I have visions of coming in to work tomorrow to find a huge pile of poo poo sitting on my desk... Roll on next week when work finally quietens down for a bit... | | Tuesday, November 28th, 2006 | | 12:20 pm |
Bah Humbug...the revenge
The battle is lost... Artistic Director caved in this morning and decided box office was looking miserable and dark and needed a Xmas tree to brighten it up. I blame John, the Production Assistant, who was at Box Office at the time. He was looking miserable (as anyone who gets forced onto box office invariably does) and it was dim because he hadn't turned on the lights... The Xmas tree is now up and being decorated as I type. However, I have declined Nikki's generous offer of making me the Xmas fairy as the one in the box office is a bit crap... Bah Humbug! | | Friday, November 24th, 2006 | | 1:47 pm |
Bah Humbug...
After working Stirling's Xmas Lights turn on last night (8 hours standing in the cold and wet), the talk of work has today turned to Xmas trees... Currently the building stands divided between those who don't want it up yet (all men...), those who want it up now (all women...) and those who don't really give a monkeys either way (a mix of men and women...). As a member of the "FFS it's November!!!" crew, I have rallied support to keep the Xmas tree in its box for a while longer, and have convinced the boss that this is a good plan. There are now emails flying all over the place about this in a most fun way. My main advantage in this ongoing saga is that I'm the only person in the building who knows where the tree and decorations are stored, but one of the techies coming in to do the gig tonight wants the Xmas tree up, so I reckon I'll come in tomorrow to find my work has gone all festive... A good night at work...
Tonight's event at work... A play put on by the Stirling University Drama Society (SUDS...). Downsides... They wrote it themselves... it's a student group (ie show budget of -£3.50)... It's AmDram theatre... Put them all together, and I was expecting a rough night... Instead... Very well written play... Used AV and lighting to create scenes, and just used minimal props... was still Amateur, but hey... all AmDram is... All in all, was a good day at work. Had our Arts team's kiddies music workshop on tonight as well, which is always a nightmare, and was again, but we expect that now... little shits. In the main Auditorium however, much more fun. Pretty straight forward tech set-up which is always good, though our data projector had a little tantrum, but was fine after a little tlc thankfully. Had nothing to do during the show, as their tech did lights and sound and was pretty good, and nice and relaxed, so just let her get on with it. She was totty too, always a bonus :) The show itself could have used a few more rehearsals in bits, but was a really funny well done show. Some nice interplay between the two leads, and the baddie was fantastically over acted, was brilliant. Had some nice fights in it too, couple of nice sword fights and possibly the best stage fight I've ever seen, a beautifully choreographed, full on Jet Li martial arts bonanza (complete with combat rolls) with the 2 actors armed with wooden spoons and frying pans. Was absolutely superb, done totally dead pan, and the audience were loving it. Back to normal tomorrow sadly, some as yet unknown tech stuff at one of the community centres (could be bloody anything, no one seems to know what the hell is going on...), followed by set up for a huuuuuge conference on Friday. Will be a day from hell with some very high maintenance clients who have no idea what they want, but they've got an event company in, and the girl that runs it is fabulous totty, so might not be too bad. Not that I'm only concerned about totty you understand, not at all... well... not entirely... well... *gives up while the going is bad* Still, can't complain... the way the rota has worked out has left me with a three day weekend, which is totally unheard of, so am looking forward to that muchly :) Take care all *huggles tightly* | | Saturday, October 28th, 2006 | | 9:50 am |
Work...
Ahh work... you cannae beat it... Well, you can, but in true Lachlan fashion *sniffs*, beating work with a stick does not get you out of it :( Last night's local band night... what a treat... Big crowd, but sadly contained a guy who's done a gig here before, and is a complete twat with a drink in him. Been told he's alright when he's sober, but I've yet to experience that... Kind of hoping the rest of his band might take him in hand, as my lovely boss told him in no uncertain terms that he was highly unlikely to get another gig with us, something we hope will prompt his band mates into taking action :) But for the actual bands that played last night... One was pretty good, one was alright, and the third... Gah... To be a good frontman in a band, you have to walk a very fine line between showmanship and just being a complete wank. Sadly, this guy was several miles deep into wankdom... :) | | Wednesday, October 25th, 2006 | | 9:13 am |
Winter Parliament
My first event as organiser over, and feeling pretty chuffed with it all. Got way more people than we thought which was great, and feedback from the event looks good so far. Sadly, even the mighty Ancestral powers of the one and only Vadek Cain, all hail his magnificence "VadekvadekvadekvadekCaaaaaiiine" could not dispatch the rain (I blame Meldir myself, had to be his fault...), but other than that, had a great weekend. Though, staying up drinking till 6.30am was just silly, but was good to just let it all hang out and have fun, even if it did leave us rather short of time (and sleep) on the Sunday. Best bit for me had to be Duvall's fan mail. I knew something was planned, but had no idea what, and the mail was fantastic! Will probably post up some of it on the ooc bit of the Unicorn forums if Lauren has no objections, as her work really does need shared with the world :) Will need to start composing replies and..erm... signing pants and get them sent back to that rag of a paper :) Am glad the organising bit is over now though, and I can get back to using my spare time for something other than event paper pushing, though not sure if Warcrack really counts as a better use of free time :) | | Friday, September 1st, 2006 | | 6:49 pm |
Got yet another one of these spam emails saying the usual nonsense about my account being hacked and to click here and give away my bank details... Uhu... Looked at this one a bit more closely as it actually had my address in the email (though an old one...) and wondered what would happen if I replied. I'm guessing my email account (which I'm closing soonish) will suddenly be drowned in even more spam junk than it is already. Shame, really wanted to send a copy of their email back with red pen marks everywhere showing spelling and grammar corrections... but then... I went to a private school, and have never quite managed to have that bit of me beaten out... Current Mood: amused |
